Things of light

But when that person begins to overcome themselves perfectly, and walks in the way of God, then that person esteems the things of light which previously grieved them. (CIoC) S A 2 A practical tool: 12 Christian discipleship steps

12 steps for Christian Discipleship — Power tool

A pure mind

By two wings a person is lifted up from earthly things, namely simplicity and purity; simplicity in our intention and purity in our affections. Simplicity tends towards God; purity apprehends and tastes Him. (CIoC)

Suffering

The person who knows how to suffer best, will do the best at keeping oneself at peace.  That person is conqueror of oneself, and lord of the world, the friend of Christ and an heir of heaven. (CIoC) J e s u s Take the beatitudes found in Matthew 5 and turn them around by using the word “Cursed is…”. Has this unlocked anything in your world? If so you might enjoy the work of Katie Byron .

Peace with hard and perverted people

It isn’t a big deal to associate with the good and gentle for this is naturally pleasing to all, and everyone willingly enjoys peace, and loves those who agree with them the most.  But to be able to live at peace with hard and perverted people, or with the disorderly, or with folks who go contrary to us, this is a great grace, and a most commendable and “ Godly cool ” thing to do. (CIoC) S A 2 Christopher Avery’s Responsibility Process is a great place to start in regard to enhancing relationships.

Many things displease

But many things displease and often trouble you because you are not yet perfectly dead to yourself or separated from all earthly things. (CIoC)

Lemons make lemonade

If it is well with you, and you are thoroughly purified from sin, all things will fall out to you for good, and for your growth. (CIoC) S A 2 It really is amazing how together with God we can take our lemons and make lemonade .

Judging

The person that judges all things as they are, and not as they are said or esteemed to be, is truly wise, and taught rather of God than of humans. (CIoC) S A 2 One of the greatest lessons I’ve been learning is how associations make us think of correct or incorrect assumptions. For instance, Allah is an Arabic word for God so even Arabic Christians use this word and mon Dieu is French for my God yet this term was translated into the term good grief for my high school French class. Yet a wise person understands and/or tries to understand where the other person is coming from for communication synergy.

Admit Christ

Give admittance to Christ, and deny entrance to all others. (CIoC) J e s u s Check out the biographies of Christ ; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and determine how Christ worked with His relationship with His Father, His close friends, the rest of His disciples and others so you can get an idea of how to balance your life.

The Kingdom of God within you

Learn to despise outward things, and to give yourself to inward things, and you shall perceive the Kingdom of God within you. (CIoC) S A 2 When we look into each other’s eyes we see past the colour of skin and recognize that: “In the service of Jesus there is a place for all.     If we’re towering giants or just kind of small. If we’ve been up to college or we don’t know much. If your heart’s all right you’ll do you’ll do.    If your heart’s all right you’ll do.” (That’s your spiritual heart being referenced) “For the Kingdom of God is peace and joy in the Holy Ghost” which is not given to the unholy. Romans 14:17  Meditate on Saint Paul’s teachings in his book called Galatians chapter 5 to get ideas on what is holy and what is unholy .

When the sun sets -- Power tool

Ask yourself if you: ·         Have been o    Resentful o    Selfish o    Dishonest o    Afraid     Need to: o    Apologize o    Share with someone else          Were: o    Kind and loving towards others o    Thinking of yourself most of the time o    Thinking of what you could do for others          Could have done better Don’t worry; feel remorse; or entertain morbid reflection; all of these limit our effectiveness; Instead ask God how to fix things.                       Inspired by “ the Big Book ”

When the sun rises -- Power tool

Ask God to:        Direct our thinking        Divorce our brains of: Self-pity Dishonesty Self-seeking motives       Clear our brains of wrong motives        Use our brains        Give us inspiration when we’re indecisive        Give us intuitive thoughts for our decisions Then relax; take it easy; don’t struggle Ask God throughout the day to:       Show us our next step       Give us what we need to take care of each problem we encounter       Give us freedom from self-will so that we only ask for things that benefit others. And for when the sunsets just click here

God and the 5 love languages

When a person comes to that state where one seeks not one’s comfort from any creature, then one begins perfectly to relish God.  Then shall one be contented with whatever befalls oneself. S A 2 For sure, to put any one person above God is a recipe for disaster yet God allowed us to have the delights of companionship as described in the 5 appreciation/love/motivation languages by Gary Chapman. Meditate on the question “Did Jesus provide the   5 appreciation/love/motivation languages while here on earth?” and if so, give examples of what love language He provided to whom.

Above oneself

A lover of Jesus and of the truth, and a true inward Christian, and one free from inordinate affections, can freely turn oneself to God, and lift oneself above oneself in spirit, and rest in full enjoyment. (CIoC)
