The fear of God

But one that lays aside the fear of God can never continue in good estate, but falls quickly into the snares of the devil. (CIoC)

I’m thinking of the AA old timer Al K as I type this.  I’m told he never attended church but he always encouraged others to attend and get their eyes focused on God. Can you think of why he would do this?
