My child, oftentimes the fire burns, but the flame ascends with smoke. So likewise the desires of some folk burn towards heavenly things, and yet they are not free from the temptations of carnal affection. Which means it is not altogether purely for the Honour of God, that they make such earnest request to Him. (CIoC)

Yet, doesn’t God want to give us the desires of our heart? How do we best balance loving God, ourselves and our neighbours? Are our selfish desires affecting our family and our community? Are you part of the answer to the children’s prayers? Are you a good role model for them? Are you enjoying the simple things in life?
